Next, he will mark the teeth with a pencil, which will help him begin the sculpting process. As he sculpts each tooth, imperfections are either eliminated or decreased. He may use a sanding disc or handpiece to remove small amounts of enamel and then use abrasive strips, which are moved back and forth between the teeth, to reshape the sides of the teeth. The teeth are then polished and smoothed. Cosmetic contouring also may help correct small problems with a person’s bite.
