At University Centre Dental Associates, part of the Maryland Healthy Smiles Program, our mission has been to provide equal access to excellent dental care through a clean dental environment. We know that patients who may be candidates for invisible braces have many questions about the treatment and how it will help. Below are some of the frequently asked questions we receive about invisible braces.

Am I a Good Candidate for Invisible Braces?

Because invisible braces are custom made to fit tightly over the teeth, they are best suited for teens and adults, as the mouths of young children are still growing and developing. Your compatibility with our line of invisible braces, called Clear Aligners, will depend on a variety of factors. When you meet with Dr. Elizabeth Haynes, she will conduct a thorough review of your dental history and listen closely to your concerns. By treating you as an individual, Dr. Haynes can better determine whether invisible braces would be a good option for you.

Why Do I Need Braces?

There are a variety of reasons that Dr. Haynes may recommend braces for her patients in the Washington, DC area and surrounding counties. Some of the more common concerns that can be corrected with invisible braces include crooked or gapped teeth and bite irregularities.

How Long Do I Have to Wear Braces?

The length of time you need to wear your invisible braces will depend largely on the severity of your condition, as well as other factors. The average length of time for many patients, however, is 10 to 24 months.

How Much Do Invisible Braces Cost in Greenbelt, MD?

The cost of braces varies depending on the severity of the condition and the length of time it will take to treat it. Dr. Haynes will be happy to talk with you about braces costs during your initial consultation.

Does My Dental Insurance Cover Braces?

Your dental insurance may cover the cost of braces. Because every policy is different, the staff at University Centre Dental Associates will review your information and help determine the status of your braces coverage.

Do You Have Financing for Braces?

Yes. We provide financing through CareCredit® as an option for any out-of-pocket braces costs you may have. University Centre Dental Associates also offers a variety of payment methods to help make the process easier for our braces patients in the Washington, DC area.

Do Invisible Braces Hurt?

Most of our patients at University Centre Dental Associates do not find invisible braces painful. There may be a little discomfort after the initial insertion of the aligners and following some of your appointments. This aching or tenderness is temporary and can be eased with over-the-counter pain medication, such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen.

How Often Will I Have Appointments for My Invisible Braces?

The schedule for your appointments will be based on your individual needs. Our braces patients normally have appointments every four to six weeks.
